Jocelyn Ulrich
I loved my time in the MPH. My coursework brought perspective to my day-to-day responsibilities and helped strengthen my understanding of clinical research in a global setting. My epidemiology and biostatistics classes were invaluable for my scientific review committee responsibilities, and my health policy classes have helped me draft informed policies that I hope will continue to facilitate collaborative research in my field. Most importantly, my Capstone project gave me the opportunity to conduct field research in Ghana and present the results of that research at a national academic conference.
Jocelyn is currently the External Partner Liaison for Global Investigator-Initiated Research (IIR) in the Medical Division of Pfizer. In this role she is the primary operational point of contact for government agencies, cooperative groups and networks seeing research support from Pfizer.

After receiving my MPH in 2009 I received my first community-based grant, to study obesity and health literacy among African-American adolescents in the Brooklyn area.

In my current job, I'm combining the public health skills I got from the MPH program with my laboratory skills while working in a breast cancer prevention and screening program.

I liked that the program provided diverse learning opportunities - from immersion in New York's immigrant communities to study abroad internships and classes; there was a variety of ways to structure my own graduate education and career development.
