Marcia Thomas oversees all administrative activities for the NYU Master of Public Health program, working closely with the Office of the Executive Vice President for Health. With a background in nutrition and public health, she brings 15 years of experience in health and higher education to the MPH program. A Registered Dietitian, Marcia received her B.S. in Nutrition from Virginia Tech, an M.S. in Nutrition from Penn State and her M.P.H. from Harvard School of Public Health.
Zach Maggio is responsible for managing admissions policies and procedures, as well as financial aid, registration and enrollment issues. He received his BA from the University of California, Berkeley and his MSc in Philosophy and Public Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Zach is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Higher and Postsecondary Education at NYU's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development.
Amy Joyce coordinates and develops the public health practice components of our program, which includes our internship and Capstone programs as well as professional development and career service activities. Working extensively with students, faculty, and organizations throughout the city and globally, Amy brings over 12 years experience in the field of gender, health, and development to the program. After completing an MSc in Gender, Social Policy, and Development at the London School of Economics in 2005, Amy acted as an independent consultant for a variety of organizations, including the Population Council, UN Division for the Advancement of Women, UNIFEM, and Plan International UK. Her research with these organizations centered around gender and HIV and on the health of young people, with a specific focus on adolescent girls. She received BA in International Development from Brown University in Providence, RI.
Janet Schaeffer provides extensive program administrative support to NYU MPH faculty, staff and students as well as to the Office of the Executive Vice President for Health. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from New York University and has worked at NYU for 18 years, including FAS’ Department of Near Eastern Languages & Literatures and the Office of the Senior Vice President for External Affairs. Before joining the NYU MPH program she was Donor Relations Coordinator in the Development office, where she acknowledged the gifts of high-end donors and worked closely with the stewardship and Corporate & Foundation Relations teams.
Lisa Kroin supports the students and faculty of the NYU MPH program in a variety of ways including academic coordination, registration, course scheduling, and communications. Lisa is an artist and she received her BA in art history from SUNY Purchase. Lisa is currently enrolled in the MA program in Higher Education and Student Affairs at NYU's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development.
