As Executive Vice President for Health at New York University, I want to thank you for your interest in NYU’s Master of Public Health program.

When we first conceptualized and designed this unique MPH program, we aligned our understanding of what the world would need to improve public health with our commitment to a profession where challenges appear to grow faster than solutions, despite our best intentions. We knew that public health problems are no longer confined within particular borders; that few, if any, programs could approach the array of resources at NYU and New York City; and, perhaps most importantly, that such an endeavor would require assembling a diverse community of dedicated students and scholars capable of collaborating across disciplinary and professional boundaries.

The students, faculty and staff who participate in the NYU MPH choose to be part of a ground-breaking academic model for public health education.  Our three concentrations draw from academic strengths in community and international health, global health leadership and public health nutrition. Very few MPH programs use the entire academic breadth of a university, in our case incorporating important work taking place among multiple collaborating graduate and professional schools. And, of course, our reach extends beyond the borders of our own institution, to the nations, communities and individuals whose health and well-being inform the core purpose of our public health enterprise.

There are many ways to become involved with the NYU MPH.  I invite you to explore this website to learn more about the network of opportunities and experiences that make NYU and New York City such a rich place to engage public health.  In so doing, I hope you will find yourself challenged, inspired, and motivated to join us in leading initiatives that confront today's complex public health problems.

Sincerely,
Bob Berne Signature
