In order to apply for federal financial aid such as loans and grants, U.S. citizens and permanent residents must complete the U.S. Department of Education's Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA becomes available shortly after January 1 for the upcoming academic year. If you intend to apply for financial aid to help cover the costs of your study, you should not wait until you are accepted to file the FAFSA. For the fastest and most accurate results, we encourage you to apply electronically via the FAFSA website.
